Cimarron Avenue Elementary School's STEAM Magnet Center offers an interdisciplinary program dedicated to tackling real-world issues through a standards-focused, inquiry-based curriculum. Our emphasis lies in engaging students through project-based assignments that foster active participation and cultivate higher-level thinking skills.

Utilizing innovative strategies and cutting-edge technology, our STEAM Magnet immerses students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, encouraging investigation and discovery. Our hands-on approach harnesses natural curiosity, igniting interest, and fostering deep understanding and exemplary performance.

Mission

Cimarron Avenue STEAM Magnet Center’s mission is to cultivate and empower our diverse community of learners to become confident, critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and tomorrow's leaders. Our teachers are trained to provide a 21st century STEAM program that is filled with exciting, hands-on learning opportunities. Also, our teachers create a risk-free environment to encourage teamwork and communication in which students can apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world way. Together, we create a lifelong love of learning and set every student up for success.

Our vision at Cimarron Avenue STEAM Magnet Center is to be a successful community of diverse learners where curiosity leads to discovery, creativity inspires innovation, and every student views themselves as a changemaker. We aim to develop caring, strong, and globally aware individuals who celebrate diversity, act with honesty, and apply their knowledge and skills to create a positive impact on the world.

 

Admissions

All parents who wish to enroll in our Magnet school must apply through the Choices brochure paper application, or online at Choices Magnet

Admission is by priority points generated by your child's application, and based on space available. Choices brochures and applications will be available in all LAUSD schools, Educational Service Centers, LAUSD Headquarters, Parent Community Services Branch, and any Los Angeles County Libraries.  If you have any questions regarding the Choices process, for general district information, please call: Student Integration Services at (213) 241-4177, or call directly to the Cimarron Avenue School STEAM Magnet coordinator, Ms. Dennis (323)-757-1226.

LATE Applications Open February 2nd!

Once your application has been confirmed and accepted, new students to the Cimarron Avenue STEAM Magnet Center must complete an enrollment packet.  Our campus houses two schools, so you must complete the enrollment packet specifically for the STEAM Magnet program.

 

If your child did not attend Cimarron Avenue Elementary STEAM Magnet during the 2025–2026 school year, you must complete a new enrollment packet for the 2026–2027 school year.  Please note that your child is not officially enrolled in the Magnet program until the completed enrollment packet has been submitted to the school office.
